Black Friday
Black Friday. It seems like a great idea: you can get awesome deals for hours! All you have to do is wake up early, right?
Wrong. There are some great deals out there, but they sometimes do more harm than good. Not only do you have to battle the crowds and sometimes literally fight for your deals, you lose that sense of thankfulness and contentment that Thanksgiving is all about. We, as humans, are selfish, and all we think is me, me, me. We celebrate and give thanks for what we have been so richly blessed with on Thursday, only to greedily mob stores the next day. Not only does this affect our outlook on the holiday, but it affects others, too. Think about the retail workers who have to go in and work instead of spending time with their families and loved ones.
No, Black Friday isn’t necessarily bad. It isn’t a sin to go Black Friday shopping. My advice is this: be careful that you don’t get so wrapped up in how much stuff you can get for a good price that you forget where it all came from.
