Advice for the Freshmen

Disclaimer: The freshman year is the easiest, most carefree year of high school.

Here is some advice from my experiences:

  1. Sleep! You have so many opportunities; take advantage.

  2. Talk to your profs, as scary as they are. They generally look out for you. (Notice I didn’t say “as scary as they seem.”)

  3. Don’t spend all your time with one person. You will one day become an upperclassmen and see how cool someone is, but you have already ruled them out your freshman year. At that time you will feel you can’t talk to them.

  4. Talk to your friends about your faith. Use the opportunity to build each other up and grow.

  5. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!! It’s so easy! There are no excuses; get it done.

  6. Call your mom and tell her how you’re doing; she wants to know, and if you’re having trouble she’s a great resource.

  7. Don’t worry too much about what people think of you. You have a great chance to not only be you, but to define yourself. Don’t be how everyone else wants you to be.

  8. Don’t be part of the problem; be part of the solution.

  9. Get involved. Join groups you want to belong to regardless of what all of your friends are doing. You might meet some pretty cool people.

  10. Have fun with all you do, and do it to the glory of God.
