Senior Spotlight: Rose Schierenbeck

Rose, Rose, Rose. Yeesh. What can I say? Chances are if you see me, this little nugget is not far behind. I’ve known her since her grade school days, back when all she wanted to do was breed fish and draw horses. She’s killed many fish since then, drawn more interesting things, and she’s gotten pretty good at music on top of it all. If you ever need to jam in your pajamas, go grab some coffee, or just talk something out, Rose is your girl. Let’s dive deeper into this McDonald’s playplace ballpit of a mind (where you may find her munchin’ on a McChicken or two):

Faith: So. Tell me about yourself.

Rose: (abstains from answering due to job interview project trauma)

F: Some say you look like a cartoon cat. If you were a cartoon character and had to wear the same outfit every day, what would it be?

R: Boots, skinny jeans, some sort of cardigan and/or flowy thing. Or I could just dress like Winnie the Pooh . . . #dresscoded

F: What’s your wingspan?

R: I think it’s about an eagle’s wingspan. I can’t give an approximate length, but Sam and I had the same arm length a few years ago. Mine is just a few inches shorter than Caleb Oster’s as well.

F: What’s floppier, your limbs or a wet spaghetti noodle?

R: They are one and the same.

F: Is Harambe really dead, or does he live on through you?

R: Once again, we are one and the same.

F: If you could solve one of the world’s problems, what would it be?

R: War. No joke. I hate that everyone’s so angry all the time . . . but I’m also angry, so I understand.

F: What’s a song you could put on repeat and never get sick of?

R: (after whipping out her Spotify) Probably “Singin’ In the Rain” or “Aftergold” by The Big Wild or anything by my favorite bands.

F: What’s your catchphrase?

R: “Good stuff” is currently my response to everything, but it changes every month or so.

F: Desert island. Three things. You know the drill.

R: Ben and Jerry’s strawberry cheesecake ice cream, Spotify Premium, and probably a bunch of blankets because I’d get cold even there.

F: Any good memories from high school?

R: I don’t know. I feel like I haven’t been awake for the past four years.

F: Advice for the folks you’re leaving behind?

R: Don’t stress. Try to be calm about everything. Keep it chill, yo.

F: Before we go . . . Have any albums to shamelessly plug that may be coming out in the near future?

R: Oh, I dunno, I heard about this new fandangled album coming out in 2017 by some hot new band that I’m in.

Favorites

Song to play: On guitar, “I’ll Be Good” by Jaymes Young. On uke, “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars.

Person to jam with: Not Faith.

Yoga pose: Child’s Pose

Cafeteria sauce: (after making me distinguish “dressing or sauce”?) Honey mustard forever. By the spoonful.

Professor: Schierenbeck or Roehl, or maybe Gullerud. He’s my homie.

Musicians: Halsey, Oh Wonder, Nick Wilson.

Candy bar: Twix, but also Almond Joys ‘cause I’m nast.

Parents: Um . . . have you seen my Twitter profile picture?

Rose In 10 Years

Sam Schierenbeck: After she and Faith made their album, she continued in the music industry creating dubstep under the stage name DJ Snax. She earned a fortune and is now retired, painting dolphins and sipping piña coladas in her LA penthouse.

Alex Garvens: A successful dietician or nutritionist, still playing in coffee shops on weekends. She’s married with probably three kids.

Bryce Sandvig: Married with a TV show called 25 Kids and Counting.
